Repeater Site Atop Linney’s Mountain in Taylorsville, NC

The Alexander Amateur Radio Association sponsors and maintains two repeaters in Alexander County.

Our 2 meter repeater is on a frequency of 147.195+ with a PL tone of 94.8 Hz. This frequency was recently coordinated by SERA for the AARA group.

Our UHF repeater operates on a frequency of 441.625+ with a PL tone of 123.0 Hz. This repeater has been operational for several years. It includes an auto-patch.

Kenwood TKR-750 VHF Repeater

The W4ERT 147.195+ repeater is a Kenwood TKR-750 with around 36 watts out of the duplexer (Telewave Model TPRD-1554) into a Hustler G6 with 6db gain. We estimate an ERP of around 85 watts. It includes an echolink node (56135) active 24/7. Local weather forecast/conditions and other info is available through DTMF commands by users.

 

Telewave Duplexer VHF

Repeater Details - 441.625/R

Our UHF repeater consists of a Motorola Micor repeater which has been converted from commercial service to the amateur radio service. It is self-contained, including duplexer, in a motorola cabinet. The picture to the right show the unit in an open cabinet. Duplexer is located at the bottom of the cabnet. A CAT-300 external controller is located at the top of the unit.
