The church of Christ originated some 2000 years ago on the day of Pentecost as recorded in the New Testement book of Acts, chapter 2. Members of churches of Christ are trying to be nothing more or less than the Lord's church that one reads about in the New Testement. The church of Christ is not a denomination - we are simply Christians, members of the one church which Jesus established and the only church for which He died
And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. (Matthew 16:18-19
There is one body and one spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling . (Ephesians 4:4)
And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. (Colossians 1:18)
We wear only the name Christian because that is the name the Lord's people wore as recorded in Scripture (Acts 11:26). The name church of Christ is not used as a denominational designation, but rather as a descriptive term indicating that the church belongs to Christ (See Ephesians 5:23).
The Liledoun Road church of Christ is located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Taylorsville, North Carolina. Taylorsville is the county seat of Alexander County with a county population of approximately 27,500. It is the only congregation of the churches of Christ in the county.
The Liledoun Road church of Christ was established in the 1960's. For several years the congregation depended upon outside support from other congregations in order to carry on the Lord's work. Now the congregation is self-supporting with a full time preacher. In addition, the congregation supports two local radio programs and other good works.
